HRADBY SAMOTY (The walls of solitude) XV.
Return to Moravany
August 21 - 22, 2026 | Moravany nad Váhom Manor house
After years, the Hradby Samoty are returning to Moravany nad Váhom. On August 21 and 22, 2026, the fifteenth year of the festival will take place at the Moravany nad Váhom Manor house, in a place that is a significant part of its history.
The Walls of Solitude last stood here in 2021. Since then, the festival has continued to travel between historical objects and monuments in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Now it is returning - and with it, many people who remember Moravany as one of the places where a world completely outside of ordinary time was created over the course of a few days.
Hradby Samoty festival was created in 2010 as an independent meeting around experimental music, industrial, ambient and marginal forms of art. In fifteen years, it has become an international platform that has long since transcended the boundaries of the original scene. The festival has built a significant position in the Central European cultural space and annually brings artists and visitors from all over Europe and even from more distant parts of the world to its historical locations.
Nevertheless, the essence of Hradby has not changed over the years.
Hradby Samoty is a space.
A temporarily inhabited world in historical objects that bear traces of time, memory and extinction. Their genius loci is not a backdrop, but an active part of what is happening here.
And that is why returning to Moravany is more than just a change of location.
This year, the festival will take place in a period that is not easy for independent culture. Hradby Samoty is therefore also entering its fifteenth year with a slightly different setting. We are returning more to the DIY approach that has been part of the festival since its beginning - not as a return to the past, but as a way to do things more freely, more directly and with more space for the people themselves who create the festival.
However, this does not mean any less ambition.
The fifteenth year will also bring major musical, visual and audiovisual projects, only they will be accompanied by a greater degree of improvisation, collaboration and experimentation. The Walls will once again try to create a situation in which individual program lines do not function separately, but intertwine with each other and change the space itself.
Sound, image and body merge into one stream here. From ambient surfaces and noise structures through pulsating rhythms of techno or tekno, to extreme positions and projects on the edge of definition. Visual works are not created next to the music, but in direct contact with the space - they outgrow it, disrupt it and change its meaning.
During the festival, an extensive program of music, contemporary art, performance, installations, lectures, workshops and poetry will unfold in the manor house and its surroundings. It will also include video mapping, which will transform the manor house itself into a light and image area after dark.
The musical dramaturgy of the fifteenth year once again crosses genre boundaries. In Moravany, Darja Kazimira & Zura Makharadze, Maraki, Yarrdesh, Porenut, Hluková sekce, Psychedelic Rainbow Warrior Peace Force, Voluptas, Drén, Šimanský, Vaľko, Podracký, Výklenkové rezonancie, Atomic Candy Creeps, Duo Kalich, Erik Pánči, Richard Hronský, Ničiteľ, Prozac, Future Sound of Petržalka, Kamufláž, Hnilomorna, Polske Salto, Murkezzi, Yperit, Bator Egg, Void Rider, Fantomass and others will meet.
However, music will be only one of the layers of the festival.
Since the beginning of August, the CHAOS exhibition has been open in the manor house, which is the first chapter of this year's Hradby Samoty. The exhibition responds to the state of the world in which instability, lack of clarity and permanent change have become an everyday experience. However, chaos here is not only synonymous with disintegration. It is a space in which old structures can disintegrate and new ones can arise.
The exhibition will feature the Institute of Conceptual Power, Martin Gerboc, Ľubomíra Sekerášová, Ján Bátorek, Martin Karvay, Oksana Sadovenko, Matej Fabián, Richard Hronský, Dionýz Troskó, Emma Kočnerová, Gabriela Halás, Kristína Bukovčáková, Lucia Dubnická, Lukáš Škorvánek, Markéta Jáchimová, Michaela Hromadová, Tereza Kontúrová, Zuzana Sabová and others.
The exhibition will naturally continue to the park, where new and older works by Zuzana Svatík, Martin Piaček, Jozef Pilát, Milan Adamčiak, Viktor Išpár, Martin Kochan, Zuzana Sabová, Martin Špirc, Lac Teren and Woven Workshop will be presented as part of Artrooms Moravany 7: Holidays in the Park.
The collaboration with Artrooms Moravany, Vox Loci and Kaštieľ Moravany nad Váhom thus creates a situation in which contemporary art, historical architecture, a park and a live program become part of a single whole.
And that is exactly what Hradby is all about.
Hradby Samoty is not a festival in the usual sense. It is a collective experience.
A temporary island of freedom, where individual experience meets a common rhythm. A place where things are not only observed, but experienced.
Something between escape and confrontation. Something that only arises here and only for a moment.
However, the fifteenth year will have another dimension.
After its end, Hradby Samoty plans to take an indefinite break. After fifteen years, we do not know when the festival will return, nor what its next chapter will look like.
All the more we want to meet again the way we like it.
In a historical space that will cease to be just a historical space for a few days. Between music, images, light, noise, body, night and people who come from near and far.
The Walls of Solitude XV. are here.
After fifteen years, they are still emerging, still changing and still retaining the ability to create something for a moment that does not exist anywhere else.
This time again in Moravany nad Váhom.
