A brand-new project bringing together a trio of musicians, at least two of whom should already be very familiar to our audience. Michal Vaľko aka Line Gate has for years been captivating listeners with his ambient séances built around hurdy-gurdy and vocals. Jakub Šimanský, a pioneer of the local guitar “primitivism” scene, hardly needs a lengthy introduction, especially considering the acclaim received by his collaborations with Tomáš Niesner (the two are also connected through their past involvement in the noise-rock band Unna). Here, however, he has traded the classical guitar exclusively for lap steel guitar and banjo. Ján Podracký, responsible in the trio for recorder flutes and occasionally harmonica or melodica, teaches at FAVU and is active in the field of contemporary classical music; several of his compositions have premiered over the years at the Ostravské dny festival. Together they weave purely acoustic and deeply hypnotic tapestries of sound, while their debut recording is still eagerly awaited.
