DRÉN is one of the most significant figures on the Slovak and Czech-Slovak noise scene. Currently based in Prague, his roots and influence remain firmly connected to the Slovak underground. For more than 20 years, he has been dedicated to noise and experimental music, where he has developed a distinctive, extremely intense and constantly evolving artistic language.
The DRÉN project has been active since 2006 and has released a large number of albums over the years, alongside an extensive range of collaborations with key figures of the experimental scene, including Sklo, 900piesek, Secondstrokes, Nitts, Paregorik, Noitt, Kolaps Systému, rbnx, Koroze, and many others. His work has evolved from raw, extreme noise walls into more rhythmic and structured forms, while always maintaining a strong expressive and physical character.
A significant part of his activity was also the label Už Bolo Dosť! Productions, which he ran for roughly ten years and through which he released more than 30 titles from both the domestic and international noise scene. His recordings have also been released on labels such as Urbsounds, Nomad Sky Diaries / Sky Burial, Obsedante!, and Glass Anvil.
In addition to DRÉN, he is active in several other formations and collaborative projects, including Angel Epilepsia, Arabian Family Payback, Dysnomia, Kamufláž, Hluková Sekce, and others. In the past, he was also part of projects such as Remmirath, ...lesom, DRNSMS, Blues For The Redsun, and many more.
Drén also hosts the radio show Rázova Vlna on Radio Punctum, dedicated to experimental and noise music.
DRÉN belongs among the loudest and most consistent projects on the domestic scene. His live performances are known for their extreme intensity and physical impact of sound. He has been performing at the Hradby Samoty festival since its very first edition and has long been one of its core staples. This year’s concert will be special, marking the 20th anniversary of the DRÉN project.
